Beaded and woven by hand, this darling triple tier cowrie shell basket is crafted with delicate detail by artisans in Rwanda who stitch glass and locally-sourced beads onto handwoven vases, baskets, and bucket bags using a needle and thread. 

Historically Rwandan Kings wore beaded crowns as symbols of their wealth and prosperity. Now a tradition in villages across Rwanda, the beading process can span more than a month of incredibly precise and patient handwork. Small batch production means no two beaded Indego pieces are exactly the same.

These extraordinary pieces help fund education programs for the artisans who handcraft them. Each item is made by hand using traditional, time-honored techniques in Rwanda and Ghana. Handle with care.
