Memos from the Movement: Indigo Alchemy

This season, Ibu steps into the deep, transformative realm of indigo—where a green leaf becomes the richest blue, and the work of the hand transforms into something timeless. Indigo Alchemy travels from the souks of Morocco to the dye vats of India, from the weaving houses of Colombia to the highland workshops of Kyrgyzstan, where silk is felted entirely by hand. Along the way, it gathers stories, textures, and colors into a collection that feels both ancient and alive.

Indigo runs like a river through the season… sky at dawn, ocean in storm, midnight so deep it swallows the light; layered with burnt orange, copper, and warm earth.

Hand-loomed cottons, supple silks, silk-velvet Ikats, and Moroccan embroideries carry these hues with depth and grace. Heavenly-soft alpaca ruanas and shawls from Peru wrap the wearer in warmth, while felted-silk scarves from Kyrgyzstan bring a whisper of lightness.

Silhouettes move between ease and structure: tailored jackets, flowing dresses, and wraps that shift effortlessly from day to night. Antique coin necklaces and one-of-a-kind ancient adornments lend each look the patina of history.

For me, creating Indigo Alchemy has been a celebration of my lifelong love for ancient textiles and the techniques that keep them alive. Working closely with our extraordinary artisans, shaping each piece together, and bringing forward a collection that is both unique and deeply considered has been an incredible and humbling experience.

Indigo Alchemy is not just a season. It is a passage between worlds, a weaving of distant geographies into a shared language of craft, color, and soul. Coming soon... let the first drop of indigo find you. Stay tuned!
