Capacity-Building Grants

The Ibu Foundation offers capacity-building grants to strengthen women-led artisan enterprises, preserve heritage craft, and foster financial independence. Below you’ll find our vision, what we invest in, and our priorities for applicants.
Our Vision
-
Raise income opportunities for women artisans in overlooked places.
-
Support enterprises that represent culturally significant textile traditions.
-
Place strong emphasis on elevating women toward financial self-sufficiency.
-
Preserve heritage craft while elevating women artisans.
We invest in the long-term sustainability of artisan groups through capacity-building grants. Eligible uses include:
-
Purchase of supplies and equipment.
-
Specialized training sessions.
-
Workspace improvements or new builds.
-
Emergency relief to ensure continuity of livelihoods during crises.
Proposals are thoughtfully reviewed for:
-
Advancement of heritage craft preservation.
-
Empowerment of women artisans.
Our timeline:
-
Applications are accepted twice yearly:
-
Deadlines: May 10 and October 10.
-
Awards announced: June 30 and December 20, with funds distributed within six months of announcement.
Funding considerations:
-
Some proposals may be partially funded depending on available resources.
-
When partially funded, priority is given to elements that can be most effectively supported. We encourage applicants to share their full vision and budget, knowing that even partial support can help move important work forward.
-
Some proposals may not be funded in the current term, but applicants will receive feedback and may be encouraged to reapply.
We invite you to share your vision with us—knowing that every proposal is an opportunity to move meaningful work forward, and we’re honored to walk alongside you in that journey.
