Walking the Walk
Dim the lights, cue the beat, immerse yourself in the spectacle of envy-worthy designs streaming past you on the runway. Our Fringe Revolution celebration on March 8 is just a few weeks away! There is an audible buzz around the Ibu studio—staff energized by the creative design process, generating a collection of new looks by our global artisan partners. Imagine caftans, gowns, tunics, trousers, and even an itsy-bitsy-beaded bikini in a multitude of colors and patterns; embellished with embroidery, beading, and of course fringe. We can’t wait to pull back the curtain to showcase these new looks and the artisanal skills of women around the world.
If you have already purchased your tickets to our International Women’s Day fundraiser, you have secured a seat to what is certain to be the highlight of 2023. Those who have been fence sitting have a small window of opportunity—the remaining tickets are disappearing quickly, so don’t wait. International delicacies from Pakistan, South America, West Africa, and the Middle East, along with a premium bar selection, will delight your senses. Although you’ll be awestruck by our eye-popping fashion show, the evening is also an opportunity to dig deeper into our Movement and learn more about the WHY and HOW of Ibu’s work.
Preparations are underway for a stunning evening of global fashion and fun.
We will honor seven Global Champions—artisan leaders from Morocco, Nigeria, Haiti, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan—our partners in the effort to elevate women and provide a means to earn respectful livelihood through the art of their hands. We will celebrate budding collaborations, like our partnership with industry giant, F. Schumacher, and hear from Dara Caponigro, the brand’s chief creative officer, about why they are behind Ibu’s mission. As we celebrate the first ten years of Ibu, we’ll share what you can expect from us in the next ten years—and it’s big, REALLY BIG!
2023 Global Champions
This event kicks off our Fringe Revolution campaign, setting a substantial goal of raising $2 million in two years to grow our impact exponentially. On March 8, the Ibu Foundation’s objective is to raise $300,000, and you’ll have a chance to contribute by raising your paddle to support our artisan projects, or by bidding on one of the incredible packages like a 10-day luxury Kenya safari from our friends at Roar Africa, or a 4-night Moroccan excursion at the boutique hotel Jnane Tamsna, donated by our ally Meryanne Loum-Martin. And we’ve got even more great trips and treats up our sleeves… If you aren’t able to attend, there are still opportunities to be a part of this momentous effort, and you can donate through our website or contact our development team to secure your gift.
So don your most fabulous global fashion, and add a swag or two of fringe—nothing is too over-the-top for this affair. (If you’d like a little professional styling, stop by the Ibu showroom and our staff will have you looking party-ready in no time.) This is a night to go all out for the women on the edge of change, who are willing to take every risk, and employ their talent and skill to improve their lives and change the world. We’ll stand with them and take part in their revolution—making a commitment to walk the walk together.
All the best,
