Wander In Silk

The story of House of Wandering Silk begins with movement—with curiosity that crossed borders and a devotion to craft that never settled. After years of traveling the ancient Silk Road, Katherine was drawn to a vision: a home for silks that wander, carrying with them the stories of place, of hands, of dye, of geometry.

That journey wasn’t merely geographic. It was a pilgrimage into what is possible when textile traditions are honored, when women makers are esteemed, and when every yard of cloth becomes a bridge between worlds.

At House of Wandering Silk, every garment begins with both reverence for tradition and devotion to the maker’s hand. The Itajime technique embodies this balance of precision and artistry.

In our Indigo Alchemy collection, Itajime becomes more than pattern; it becomes philosophy. It honors what is left untouched as much as what is dyed. It shows us that beauty emerges from restraint, and that the human hand gives soul to silk.

When you wear these pieces, you carry not just cloth, but the story of artisanship: a story of time, touch, and tradition, now wandering into your own life.

In 2011, House of Wandering Silk was launched in Delhi, formed in a modest bungalow, built around a single dream. Over time, it grew — not by scale, but by depth: deepening relationships with artisan communities, adopting zero-waste and small-batch practices, preserving regional dye and resist techniques, and treating every textile as heirloom, not commodity.

This mission resonates with us at Ibu because it mirrors our own. When their vision meets ours, style becomes solidarity.

We are honored by the opportunity to include these works of art in our Indigo Alchemy Collection. We hope you enjoy the history and tradition as much as we do.

With Love,

Team Ibu
