El Camino de los Altos
ECLA brings together 130 Maya women artisans from the Chiapas Highlands who weave at home on pre-Hispanic backstrap looms, folding the work into the rhythm of their daily lives.
Working alongside French textile designers for over 20 years, they draw on ancestral Mayan iconography and technique while also learning dyeing and screen printing, so their textiles earn fair recognition and compensation.
