Kenana Knitters

Founded in 1998, Kenana Knitters supports over 300 rural women knitters and more than 200 spinners who hand-spin local, organic wool into yarn.

An artisan handles purple fibers in a steaming basin.

Artisans dye their yarns with natural plant pigments from flowers and cabbage, then knit them into cuddly toys and other pieces. Profit-sharing and free literacy and health programs help each woman build a more secure life for herself and her family.
