Suda Batik Jacket - One Of A Kind
This one-of-a-kind jacket is crafted using the ancient art of batik. Hand-dyed in deep indigo, the jacket comes alive with intricate white motifs and pops of embroidery in bright pinks, blues, greens, and oranges. The indigo is 100% natural, and grown and processed in Guizhou Province. The jacket was made in Huangping County, Guizhou Province by Liao Zhenmei, who is from the Gejia ethnic minority group, a "minority minority" group not officially recognized by the Chinese government. It is hand-drawn with a "la dao" (蜡刀, the Chinese equivalent of a tjanting. Each stitch and color variation tells a story of artistry and tradition, making this a true wearable work of art.
A mandarin collar adds structure to the silhouette, while the relaxed fit makes it easy to layer. No two pieces are alike. A testament to the handwork and individuality of each creation.
Stylist Tip: Layer this embroidered batik jacket over a crisp white shirt and jeans, as shown, for a polished daytime look. For evening, pair it with wide-leg trousers or a flowing dress to let the colors and embroidery shine.
